We have made some small changes to the scorecard after receiving some feedback from the Parties. Here are the changes:
Liberals have been moved to a Yes from Partial on the question of using development charges to address sprawl. They have touched on the major points we raised.
Liberals and NDP have been moved to Yes from Partial on meeting the 17% protected areas target for biodiversity. Our concern here was a lack of mechanism, but they have both referred to implementing the province’s existing Biodiversity Strategy and targets. While we have doubts that implementing the strategy will actually be enough to get us to 17%, we are accepting their answer as sufficient.
NDP has moved down to a Partial on toxics labelling. They do say “It’s time to strengthen labelling,” but they don’t explain how they will make this happen. So upon further consideration, we have decided this is not enough for a Yes.
